How We Met

Pasadena, CA!
It all began in October 2006. A mutual friend (Holly) invited Keith and Lauren to a Halloween party. Shortly after arriving at the party, Keith and Lauren wanted to leave and were craving the best fast food in America – In-N-Out. It was a real adventure getting to the restaurant and, to their surprise, it had already closed (they did manage, after begging, to get the last few fries that were left over in the fryer). They spent the rest of the evening walking back to the party and talking about life, goals, and dreams...only to discover how much they had in common, from their desire to go camping to taking a trip to Africa.
It wasn't before long that Keith showed up at Lauren's door with a tent and a big smile. They spent as many weekends as they could getting out of Los Angeles and setting up that tent in the most beautiful places in California, from Sequoia to Death Valley and Anza Borrego. The two were inseparable. Keith and Lauren spent the next couple of years riding bikes on the beach, traveling as much as they could, and simply enjoying each other's company. They even made it to Africa in May 2009...an amazing trip filled with adventure, safaris, and happiness.
That December Keith received the news he'd been waiting for since he was a little boy...he was accepted to medical school. Overjoyed and so proud, they spent the next few months planning out their new lives. Keith and Lauren rented a truck and made the drive from Los Angeles to Columbus, OH, with their cat, dog, and everything they owned. Lauren had to return to Los Angeles to finish her degree, and after graduating in September 2009, she made the trip for a second time to be with Keith.

The Proposal

Vail, CO!
During Keith's spring break, the third week of February 2011, the two spent the week skiing in Vail, CO. It was the third day and they were skiing near Outer Mongolia Bowl, in unmarked territory outside the ski area boundary. They skied until they could no longer see or hear another soul...they were alone in the Rockies, making their own tracks in the powder and having the time of their lives. They stopped to take pictures and rest for a few minutes. Keith surprised Lauren with a beautiful ring that he had been carrying with him all day. He picked the most perfect spot on the mountain, and then Lauren and Keith skied down the rest of the mountain engaged.
